Forum Rules [Updated 12/21/2016]

MAIN RULES OF THE FORUMS

Please respect your community. Respect each other as you all enjoy the same thing ? The Game.

We encourage open and friendly discussion of the game and the Community. Moderators and Staff have final decisions on all matters, and are here to make sure that the Community remains a friendly, fun place appropriate for players of all backgrounds, ages and groups.

It is the forum member's responsibility to stay up to date on forum rules and to honor the behavior outlined.

PURPOSE OF THE FORUMS

These forums provide an area for constructive player discussions of the game. It also allows players to
help each other identify bugs and issues, and help each other reproduce and resolve them.

These forums are not the most direct way to contact support. If you?re having an issue with your game and you need direct assistance, please tap on the FAQ/Support tab within the game.

CHANGES OR IMPROVEMENT

Please make sure to stay updated on these rules by reviewing this page from time to time.

- Do not start a thread without actual purpose.
- Do not start a thread about a news story or article unless you make it clear what the story is about, and offer your own opinion to start a discussion.

- Do not create new accounts or use other tricks to avoid suspensions or bans.
- Do not create ?sock puppet? accounts ? multiple accounts created just so that you can agree with yourself and make it seem like your ideas have more support than they do.
- Never include your e-mail address or any other personal information in posts.

Rule 9: Respect the Moderators
- Do not post using the color red. This color is reserved for moderators.

- Do not argue with moderators about moderator decisions. You can disagree with a moderator?s opinions, just like any other poster, but when they post moderator actions in red text, it is considered final.
- Moderators have no access to your game account. If you have an issue you must contact customer service.

Generally, BE NICE. There is nothing wrong with being nice to each other.

  • Forum Rules - Please read before posting!

    Hello Everyone,

Fostering a community in which all players feel safe to express themselves and their concerns is of the utmost importance to your GM’s and Moderators. We’ve taken a very strong stance against the use of irreverent behavior in the forums. We wanted to take a moment to detail specifically what sort of behavior is not tolerated and will be regulated going forward.

These forums are intended as a place for players to discuss the game, share their thoughts and ideas, or vent if they must (within reason, see non-constructive section). Most importantly, we want this to be a fun place for members of our community to interact. Any language or behavior that challenges these standards will not be tolerated. Particularly, ANY racial slurs or threats of violence (including rape jokes and threats of molestation) against ANY member of the forums, including your moderators and GM’s will result in an immediate ban of your forum account.

We have a zero tolerance policy against racism and violence and will take swift action to ensure that our forums remain a safe place for all of our members. We are taking these steps to ensure the safety of all our players and maintain a community where folks can feel free to share their thoughts and concerns in the most constructive manner possible. We sincerely appreciate your compliance with the guidelines set forth here and hope that you continue to enjoy the Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North Forums.

Rule 0: Things not covered by other Rules

This is a private board owned by Kabam. As such, it falls under the jurisdiction of our Terms of Service and our decisions are final, and we may take any action necessary to control the boards, even if an offense does not specifically fall into one of the rules below. We reserve the right to remove any message board content without notice for any reason.
Rule 1: Responses to rule violations

Violating these rules will result in warnings, either formal or informal, suspensions, banning, or other sanctions. We try very hard to be fair, and not to use sanctions without good reason.
Rule 2: Respect other users on the Forums
    • Do not attack or insult other users, either in the forums or through private messages. Disagreements and debates are fine, but stay on topic and don’t make it personal.
    • Do not attack groups. This includes professions, races, religions, sexual orientations, genders, incomes groups, nationalities, or even vague groups like "you people."
    • Do not use terms which are offensive to groups, such as "gay" or "retard" as an insult.
    • Do not “flame” or "troll" These are posts intended to personally bait, berate, or anger another user, which often leads to unproductive discussions.
    • Do not haze new users. We were all new once. New members should feel welcome, and you should help them with their questions, no matter how ill-informed they might be. With a little help, today’s newbies are tomorrow’s experts!
    • Do not ridicule others for the quality of their writing. Remember: English may not be their first language.
    • Do not blacklist. Blacklisting is considered publicly shaming or accusing another player of something negative like cheating or hacking. If you have proof that another player violated the Terms of Service, use the report form or submit a ticket through support.
Rule 3: Respect our Forum purpose and structure
    • Make your posts in the appropriate Forum and keep off-topic posts in the off-topic Forum.
    • Use the search function, if a relevant thread already exists, please post there instead of creating a new thread about the same topic. Duplicate threads will be CLOSED to keep the forums orderly and easy to navigate.
    • Do not start discussions about other games in the Kingdoms of Camelot section.
    • Do not “necrobump” If a topic’s last post was made a long time ago, do not add a reply unless in special cases when you have something that contributes to it. You are free to create a new and similar topic.
    • Do not post “URGENT HELP ME KABAM PLZ” or “PLZ LOOK AT TICKET#1234!!” The Forums are more of a place for community discussion, NOT a place for one-on-one support with Kabam. If you need immediate assistance with your account or game, submit a support ticket.
    • Using the word "Kabam" or any Game Masters' or moderators name in a thread topic is frowned upon. Everyone would like Kabam to read and acknowledge his or her post, and we understand that; however, use of such words in the subject line does not help that come to pass. Please make your thread title relevant to the post subject. Threads violating this guideline are subject to deletion.
    • Do not use the forum to advertise. No advertisement of any form is tolerated in any Forum. We are not here to provide free advertising for other commercial sites.
    Rule 4: Respect the law
    • Do not post anything illegal under U.S. law, or encourage other users to break the laws of the U.S. or their country of residence.
    • Do not encourage users to break Kabam’s terms of service. This includes giving information about how to find scripts, exploits, or cheats, as well as arranging to buy or sells accounts or virtual goods.
    • Do not threaten people on the Forums via thread posts or private message. Threats of violence will be escalated to the proper authorities.
    Rule 5: Respect the audience
    • Think about who you’re talking to. Users may be young on these message boards and maybe male or female, and from countries across the globe.
    • Keep your language civil. Profanity will NOT be tolerated. The moderators and GM’s reserve the right to determine what constitutes excessive.
    • Do not post pornography, inappropriate graphic sexual content in any format, or links to sexually explicit sites.
    • Do not post graphic images or explicit descriptions of violent acts.
    Rule 6: Respect privacy
    • Do not post any private emails or private messages unless you have the explicit permission of each person involved in the exchange. Do not post private communication between Kabam Customer Support, members, moderators, or GM’s on these Forums, or anywhere else.
    • Do not post any information covered by a non-disclosure agreement or beta testing agreement. Even if you somehow have inside information about our competitors, for legal reasons, we don’t want to hear it.
    • Do not post any personal information about other users, including moderators or GM’s. This includes linking to their Facebook, posting their full names, posting their phone number or address, or sharing any other information that is not readily available through their Forum account.
    • Do not post in game information, such as player names, city locations, or scouting reports, in an attempt to have other players attack your target. You can coordinate Alliance attacks, just be careful that you don’t cross the line into bullying.
    • Do not post from these Forums on external websites or for commercial purposes without the explicit permission of each person involved.
    • Do not accuse other players of cheating in the Forums. If you suspect a player of cheating, they can be reported through a support ticket.
    Rule 7: Respect our time
    • Do not post repeatedly about the same topic. Please use the search function before posting.
    • Do not spam users on the Forums or through private messages. Spam means sending unwanted messages, or sending multiple messages in a short time.
    • Do not start a thread about a news story or article unless you make it clear what the story is about and offer your own opinion to start a discussion. Making us guess about why you posted a thread is a waste of our time.
    • Do not post Non-Constructive posts. They don’t serve a good purpose and just make the whole board feel more negative. Avoid these types of posts to help keep the Forums clean and useful.
    Rule 8: Respect your account
    • Do not share your account information with other individuals. You will be held responsible for any rules violations that occur under your account.
    • Do not create new accounts or use other tricks to avoid suspensions or bans. Any attempt to evade a sanction will result in a permanent ban.
    • Do not create 'sock puppet' accounts – multiple accounts created just so that you can agree with yourself and make it seem like your ideas have more support than they do or to inflate poll results.
    • Do not create alternate accounts to harass other users or as a way to avoid accountability for what you say. Your main account will be held accountable for any violations incurred on this alternate account. Never include your e-mail address or any other personal information in posts.
Rule 9: Respect the moderator position
    • Do not impersonate the moderators or GM’s in any way. Do not claim to speak for them.
    • Do not post threads asking to become a moderator. The moderator community will select new moderators from the most helpful and constructive posters on the boards.
    • Do not "backseat moderate." If you see something on the Forums that offends you or violates the rules, contact a moderator or GM. Do not post on the Forum complaining about the offensive behavior or post comments to "invoke" moderator action--doing so does not magically bring it to a moderator's attention.
Rule 10: Respect the decisions of the GM’s and moderators.
    • The moderation teams reserves the right to warn, suspend, or permanently ban users judged to be acting against the spirit of the rules, even if the user is following the letter of the rules.
    • Do not argue with moderators about moderator decisions. You can disagree with a moderator’s opinions, just like any other poster, but if the topic continues to be argued after already receiving a response, action will be taken on your account. You can appeal their decision in the Moderator Discussion forum.
    • Moderators are unable to refund Gems or replace any lost items. These type of issues cannot be resolved through the forums and must be handled through a support ticket.
    • The Moderator Discussion forum was created explicitly to discuss and appeal moderator decisions. Do not discuss, argue, or comment on moderator decisions in any location except Moderator Discussion.

Non-Constructive Posting: These types of posts cloud the boards with negativity and often result in unproductive discussions and should be avoided at all costs.
      Types of posts to avoid:
      • Signing: Posts which contain only “I agree,” “+1,” or “seconded” to show agreement with a previous post. Signing without giving any further explanation or discussion doesn't add anything new to the conversation.
      • Bumping: Posting on a thread for no purpose except to move the thread to the top of the forum list.
      • Venting: Threads that single out other users, moderators, or GM’s for ridicule or anger. This forum isn't a place for you to air your personal issues.
      • Bragging: Threads that exist only to threaten, boast, or gloat. Again, this isn’t your personal forum. If your topic isn’t of interest to the community as a whole, it’s not constructive.
      • Spam: Repetitive posting of the same topic, text, or nonsensical posts that serve no purpose, and often just annoy other users. This includes “Add Me” posts outside the “Looking for Knights/Neighbors/etc.” forum, and bug complaints outside the “Bugs and known issues” forum.
      • Lobbying: Continually bringing up the same topic in multiple threads in an attempt to get developer attention.
      • Petitioning: Asking others to “sign” your petition for new game features or other issues. Starting a discussion is great; getting just a list of names is not constructive.
      • Cross-Posting: Posting the same topic or thread in more than one forum.
      • Multi-Quoting: Quoting a user who was quoting a user who was quoting a user…if there are more than two levels of quotes in your reply, please clean it up before you submit.
      • Rage Posts: Things like “I’m quitting,” “You’re on my ignore list now,” “I’ll never spend another dime,” etc. These posts just make the whole board feel more negative, and don’t actually accomplish anything constructive.
      • Legal Action / Boycott: Do not post threads threatening refunds or legal action against Kabam, or asking players to boycott Kabam’s products.
      • Conspiracy Threads: Claiming that Kabam or its employees are showing favoritism or acting in collusion with a group or player. Kabam doesn’t take sides in any conflict. Even our moderators are volunteers, and do not receive any special treatment.
      • Billing: The forum is not the place to discuss billing issues or disputes. These types of private matters need to be handled through a support ticket.
      • Interruptions: Posts that are off topic and are often used to gain GM or Moderator attention. This usually leads to a derailed thread.
      How to avoid non-constructive posting
      • Be polite and clear: Make some effort at using proper capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, as they all aid in communication. Please avoid profanity entirely.
      • Don’t thread-jack: This means changing the topic of conversation in a thread. If you want to discuss something different, start your own thread.
      • Discuss the topic at hand: If you don’t want to discuss an issue, then ignore that thread. Don’t post about how the discussion is a waste of time. Example: If people are discussing how to use the imperial guards in a thread, don’t jump into that thread to say “imperial guards are stupid, use a crimson mage instead.” that’s not the topic being discussed and does not add any useful information to the discussion at hand.
      • Think before you post: Before you click ‘submit,’ take ten seconds, read over it, and decide if this is really something you want to say. If you’re unsure how to say something without crossing a line, send a message to a moderator or GM – especially before making a post you will regret later. Say something relevant or lightheartedly humorous when you post. If you don’t have anything new to say, don’t say anything at all.
      User Agreement
Your use of the forums is dependent on your acceptance and compliance with the Rules of Conduct and the Kabam Terms of Service. Failure to comply with these rules will result in loss of privileges on these boards, and potential banning from the boards entirely. By following these Rules of Conduct, the Kabam forums will remain an enjoyable and useful environment for everyone. Violating these rules may result in your removal from the forums. These rules apply to all forms of communication, including public threads, private messages, visitor messages, avatars, and any other form of communication.
      Liability Release
Kabam excludes all liability for: (a) any action taken in response to breaches of these Rules of Conduct. The responses described in the Rules of Conduct are not exhaustive, and Kabam may take any other action, in its sole discretion, it deems appropriate; (b) any loss or damage arising from the use of the forum by you; (c) any content posted or uploaded by users of the forum which shall include, without limitation, any liability for offensive and/or defamatory posts.
      Changes to these rules
Kabam may revise these Rules of Conduct or their Terms of Service at any time. You are expected to check this page from time to time to make note of any recent changes.

Need to speak to a GM privately? Please keep these things in mind when private messaging them:

Be patient, they receive several message a day and it may take some time for them respond to yours. DO NOT start threads requesting for a GM or Moderator to check their private messages.
GM's are not part of the Customer Support Team. If you have a personal account or billing issue please submit a ticket.
Do not send private messages on the behalf of another player. GM's will not be able to discuss account information with anyone other than the account owner.
Do not send messages requesting for a ticket to be reopened or reevaluated. If you are unhappy with the closure or resolution of your ticket please contact support.
To save time, please leave details such as your in-game name and world in your initial message.
