    Snow and Iron

    Chapter 1:
Nightmares of Ice: Snow and Iron

Merlin has awoken, and claims he had horrible, twisted dreams. Dreams of a fiercely cold winter, of masses of Picts marching on Camelot, of blood in the snow and smoke in the sky.

Although Winter is becoming colder and colder, the King and his advisors consider this just the usual Merlin's Madness. And sure enough, shortly after he awakes, Merlin does go mad! Play the madness now and win big!

      A Northern Journey

      Chapter 1:
Nightmares of Ice: A Northern Journey

Merlin is recovering from his latest bout of madness. The King has second thoughts about doubting the great Druid - Merlin is right more often than not. Arthur sends 12 Scouts - common knowledge to be a lucky number - to the very northern borders of Camelot. Here, the border of their lands is marked by the River Tanesis, a broad river the Picts can't cross in number. Whenever they try, they're stopped by the soldiers who keep guard.

Four days later, one of the scouts returns. His companions stayed to keep watch, and he reports skirmishes on the river and a huge army of Pictish soldiers on the far side. Smaller numbers are crossing but the main force cannot - unless the river freezes. And it's getting colder....

Arthur considers. It seems the Picts intend to invade, and he doesn't have enough of an army to stop them yet.

      The King prepares for war.

Check the event center for special tournaments of might and other events, with amazing prizes!

Chapter 2: The Icy Grip of Winter

The castle is awoken in the middle of the night by the return of one of the Twelve Scouts. He is grievously wounded with an arrow through his leg, pinning him to his very horse. Immediately taken to the infirmary, he manages to gasp out some news before he passes away - and the tidings are very grim. The river Tanesis has frozen. The northern garrison has been eliminated, slaughtered to a man, and the Picts are crossing the river in larger and larger numbers.

Some brave local Knights have organised a last ditch defense and fight the Picts in the hope help will come soon.

Arthur immediately issues a summons. "All armies to march north!"
Gather your armies and stop the Picts before it's too late - if they can all cross the river, Camelot may be doomed.

This fight is about the very survival of the realm!

              Chapter 2: Dreams of Fire

Prophets speak of the "Three Swords" that will unite and help save Camelot from destruction.

Nightfall was one of these Swords, and the Blade of Grace was another. The last, and third sword, was unknown. Until now.

Deep, deep in the dusty library crypts, Merlin discovered a text that named the last sword of the Three. The parchment was so old that it crumbled as he touched it, but he had long enough to see the name - Blind Justice.

Uniting the Three Swords against the Picts would provide Camelot with a powerful force in this time of need.

Find this Sword, and own all three, and you will be rewarded!
              The "Three Swords" are:
              Nightfall
              Blade of Grace
              Blind Justice

There is a time limit for this event - you must own all Swords and have upgraded them to level 11 by the 15/12/2014 @ 08:00 UTC

Those who do so will receive:

              Total Master Hammer +11!

This chest contains all hammers up to 11 - including the al new EXCLUSIVE Master's Hammer +11. That will enable you to upgrade Gear to level 12!

                Chapter 2: Dreams of Fire

The tale of the Shadow Prince is well known. A young prince, he had skin so fair that even the slightest ray of sun could burn him. A formidable warrior, he wore dark armour and he fought with a sword and a spear. The Prince was kind to friends but cruel to enemies it is said that he so terrified the Picts that some warriors fled once they saw him.

The Shadow Prince is long dead - but his weapons live on. And united, they could help defeat the Picts.

There is a time limit for this event - you must own both weapons and have upgraded them to level 10 by the 15/12/2014 @ 08:00 UTC

Find and upgrade the Prince's Sword and the Spear of Shadows to level 10 and you will receive:

                  Chapter 3: Northern Terror

                  News from the north.

The River Tanesis remains frozen yet hundreds of Picts lay dead atop it - but not enough. The brave soldiers of Camelot fought and died here too and their armour glints dully in the fading Winter light. The icy surface is stained crimson with blood from the fallen but already begins to be covered by fresh snow, perhaps an attempt by the gods to forget this gruesome savagery. Crows circle above the battlefield, beady eyes expectant of a meal. The armies in the north have been shattered.

                  And the Picts march south.

Burning, pillaging and worse follow them as they pierce further and further into the realm. A trail of black smoke marks their passage.
There are even rumours that the Picts bring savage and magical war beasts with them...

What follows is something that even Merlin does not know. Although the ancient weapons have been found, the King is shaken and unsure of himself - the court are in fear, and a huge effort will be needed to prevent the light of Camelot being enveloped in darkness. This is a time where heroes will be forged.

                    Chapter 4: Wolves and Men

Scouts keep a track of the enemy's progress. They're flushed with success, plunder and mead, and the army has ground to a halt in the city of Gonlester. Although their chieftains are trying to get them moving again, for now the horde has stopped in the comfort of the city. No doubt they will burn everything, sober up and move on, but for now there is a lull in the waves of destruction...

This would be an opportunity to re-group, re-arm, re-forge and re-take Camelot! But it's not to be....with the King fallen sick, and Merlin nowhere to be found, chaos reigns. Some Lords and Ladies, believing the Picts will not continue further south, see the opportunity to carve out their own fiefdoms without Arthur, and they have revolted!

Camelot is plunging into civil war.

Chapter 5: Edge of a Knife

                      Merlin returns!
He speaks to the ailing King for an entire day - what they discuss, no one knows - but Arthur appears later, rejuvenated. Gone are the black, hollowed out eyes, the pale white skin, the clouded eyes stoked full of despair.

This is a new man, a King ready to fight. He clambers up to the battlements and surveys the soldiers camped outside the walls. He roars out to them in greeting.

"People of Camelot! Through our blood and sweat we forged this Kingdom! We have killed and we have bled and we have suffered to create it, and we will not let it fall to Pictish savages. We will bring light to the dark depths of this Winter, fire to the ice, and iron to those who come here uninvited. The invaders march towards us seeking our destruction. Many of you who fight will die. But if we run, we'll all die - and so we have a choice. Fight and die like a hero, or run and die like a dog. I will fight. Which of you will join me?!"

A tremendous cheer goes up, startling the ravens in the battlements to take flight to the heavens.

It is time to boost the armies, to forge the best weapons, to pour all that is left in the Camelot treasury into the survival of the realm and the destruction of the invaders.

The King may be back, but the situation is still unstable and the kingdom teeters on the brink. Arthur has flipped the coin - on one side lies salvation and the other, oblivion. On which will it land...?
