I have been a long time player in Lancelot1 for over 2 years, while I personally think merging worlds would be great I do understand it is a complex task to undertake. For one thing with so many worlds currently open i definitely brings a heavy burden down on customer support, game designers and the servers themselves.
For the sack of argument if you make the assumption that a world is 75% wilds. There are a total of 640,000 total spaces on a 800 by 800 map. This means there are 160,000 total spaces available for the use of plains/players cities. To ensure their is enough plains, so that every player can have 5 cities this leaves enough room for 32,000 players.
Their is not a single world that has that many active players remaining, Lancelot1 alone has only a few hundred actives remain disregarding alternate account. From the basic math it can be seen that there is definitely the available space on a map for a server merge. The options could be merge 2 worlds together, 4, 6 or etc.. This hard to be said without seeing real time data for each worlds regular player activity.
The process of doing the merger is the difficult part, and I myself have a few ideas on how to do it, but no one answer is perfect. As other have suggested in the past provide all players and item that allow them to transfer an account to a select newly created map. This seems realistic enough and one of the easier cared out options I have seen suggestion. I myself would enjoy to see other players suggestions.
I really hope kabam would consider mergering world at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.
regards,
JC

i agree with previous posts. Most worlds have become very quiet. Having spoken to many chancellor & vice chancellors across many worlds the general consensus is in order for this game to survive a world merge must be considered & hopefully implemented!
Maybe a 1 off world port could be an option so some or all worlds have a chance to move all cities to a new world which has multiple worlds amalgamated! this would remove inactive accounts, so your new world only had active players.

Den..

My suggestion is a world port. Here is how I would go about doing this. First Kabam creates a brand new map and does not make it available for new users to join. Then for all the selected dying worlds Kabam will give EVERY user of that world a World Port. This world port will only take you to the new world. Once a user uses this World Port it will transfer all your game data (stats, items, etc). When that player arrives into the new world they will be given 1 Port of Order for each city owned. This will allow the player to be able to put their cities where they would like.
If a player plays on multiple worlds they will only be able to port one account into the new world.
Maybe start by merging 8-10 worlds then maybe add more. This will keep all the big experienced players together and will bring excitement and fun back to the game we all have enjoyed to play.

I think with the amount of people having multiple worlds on the same device server merges are more or less impossible, mainly due to kabams initial strategy of getting people to start a new world if they fancied a change
World ports have also long been spoken about and its possible to do it as other games do, however a list of items would be needed as with the post above from BBN, being able to port into other worlds though rather than "yet another new one" is a better idea, as fundamentally a server lives off its inactive cities res production, as a server progresses cities of active players increase whilst player numbers dwindle the supply of res is balanced.
Be careful what you wish for with "new worlds" you cannot grow enough res to support training queues in 5 elevated cities
1) World ports are a great idea, my idea would be to give every active player 3 world "everlasting 24 ports" which means they can port all cites from one domain then move them around until they are happy with the location in that world.
2) remove all beginner protection from worlds older that 6 months to stop bubble banks
3) remove all lvl 15 and lower inactive players from every server to free up space
the benefit of the above would be that you could get whole alliances or attack squads moving into worlds and get warring going again, after all this is what this game is supposed to be about
feel free to pass this on to the game development team so they can file it with all of the other feed back posted here

Everlasting world ports would be fun but only a temporary solution in my opinion. We need something long term. You mention resources being a issue in a brand new merged world. Yes they would be. Now players would need to start creating resources or attacking actives. This will make resources more valuable and will cause more war and attacks.

if I have to start growing my own res there would be no point in playing, I have no issue attacking players what so ever its sort of the point of the game, but most of the players with advanced city set up would really struggle with this as queues would be impossible to keep filled.
My point about 24 hour world ports if you read it properly would be a one time move to a new world then 24 hours to finalise location within that server for your cities, im pretty confident that by either using this forum as a medium or touch kik etc etc, plenty of interest could be initialised to get a mass move to a specific world, with inactives in tact and them the obvious fighting to commence
for instance if another world was opened I can almost guarantee that 2 maybe 3 alliances from the server I play would go there, and I imagine that this would be the case for almost all other servers and top fighting alliances
on another subject also with different gear and enhancements such as embedding active in other worlds the available worlds would need to be sorted and posted
