I have now been playing Kingdoms of Camelot battle for the North for over a month. I have observed that players with adequate might roam around the worlds plundering weaker players. The only source of restitution within the game is to grow your kingdom to where you can retaliate with greater force to exact primitive justice, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." I experienced getting plundered as soon as my city lost its initial protection, and resolved not to attack active players who were weaker than me unprovoked. However, Battle for the North incentivizes this type of behavior because it is the easiest way to gain lots of resources and advance your kingdom.
Here are some aspects of the game that help this behavior.
-The three measures of rank in the game (Overall might, might gained, and armies killed) are all based on how much you can or do bully the other players. The armies killed does not track Pic armies or wild armies, only human armies!
-Attacking pic camps, the supposed point of the game is expensive, pointless, and provides no rewards except the long and grueling acquisition of crests.
-City walls do not seem to provide any bonus against attacking troops. They also do not have more level 2 or level three defenses.
-There is no way of storing your gold.
Here are some suggestions for things to add or alterations to make that would dramatically help protect weaker players from being bullied or excessively plundered.
-Enable level 2 defenses on the city wall before level 2 troops and level 3 defenses on the city wall with level 6 or 7 advancements.
-Give defending troops inside a city wall a large bonus
-Rank how many Pic or wild armies people kill. Make the acquisition of resources in the Pic camps much higher.
-Add a part of the game that rewards players for not attacking other players or for protecting other players.
-Enable trades with non-alllies.
I want to make it clear that I am not simply complaining that I was plundered. I am concerned that this game is teaching all of the players to behave in a way that if they did it in physical society would be very bad for all of us. And it is certainly bad for all the players in the game. In the Old Testament God speaks very clearly about how we ought to treat those who are weaker than us, "Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow." Isaiah 1:17
