  • Purgatory is miserable

I've spoken to a lot of players and we are all counting the days for this to be over. I am not one of those people who just criticizes everything. First of all I will say the prizes are amazing. Kudos for being more than fair with the prize distribution. Here are my issues with purgatory

    1. Time commitment is obscene. To try and compete you have to win trophies on every contest which runs in 6 hour cycles. Perhaps 8 hours would have been better.

    2. People not participating in purgatory are leaving alliances in our original worlds bc of the inactivity. This is causing a divide among players.

    3. Awarding prizes to take back to our original world doesn't seem fair. As mentioned above the prizes are so good that you are almost forced to participate or get left behind. Once these items start being used in our original worlds I am sure people not participating will grow frustrated at the disadvantage they are at.

I for one have only one account in one world. I don't want to build up 5 new cities and be glued to my phone for 3 straight weeks or else I'm at a disadvantage in my original world.

I've already committed so much time to this I'll see it through to the end but I am hopeful this experiment won't be repeated. Please keep comps within the worlds we play in.

    Thanks

No one is really at an unfair advantage. Everyone had the option to compete in purg. Get their minimum trophies and leave again.

It was not hard to make up the minimum amount at all.

There will be people who complain but really it's on them.

As for falling behind in your main. So is everyone else competing.. but I feel the prizes are great enough that a few weeks of not building and training wont matter too much.

    Just my thoughts

I could be wrong but I don't believe you could come in at the start get 500 trophies then not play anymore and still get prizes. When I look at the leader board the dead last place player in the Wood rank has 1175 trophies as of right now. Not sure what 500 trophies gets you. I interpreted it to mean you needed at least 500 trophies to be able to qualify for wood rank but that would only apply if that was enough to get you up to that rank. Again, I am not sure but the original Purgatory event thread said you needed at least 100 trophies I thought to get the 100 gems but it says on the leader board 500 to rank in Wood so it sort of conflicts. Maybe it actually means anyone with AT LEAST 500 trophies will be guaranteed AT LEAST Wood rank?

As for falling behind, yes the prizes are good and everyone was able to participate. If someone didn't participate and feel they "fell behind" as a result it is their own fault. They could have built up cities in Purgatory. You can easily get up to at least silver rank without spending a dime. I spent about $100 and I am top of gold rank. Speaking of spending money, not participating in Purgatory is to what would make someone fall behind in this game.

yes, 500 is at least wood.
You need at least 1175 for stone.

We still see newbies that start playing today in purgatory. It is almost impossible to get 500 trophies when you start today. (you need to score every event)
Maybe kabam should close the world, don't let players in anymore.

I agree it is very time consuming if you want to place well, but it is better than during the seasons where every 3 hour tournament had trophies so you pretty much had to be on non-stop to place well. At least with 6 hour tourneys, you can fight/set queues in the beginning and then check out for as much as 11 hours, then come back for the tail end of the next 6 hour comp.

You can compete without spending money. They have been great about giving out extra valor a few times just for playing, and you win valor every single competition, which you can then use to get the stuff you need to build and fight more. The prizes are great - even the bare minimum gets you stuff that can really help in your original world. And for once the difference between the top rank and the bottom is not actually that huge - even 500 trophies gets you lvl 11 hammers and 1000 gold hero medallions.

I think the whole purgatory experience has been tons of fun. It feels like back when I started playing, getting zeroed often, struggling to scrape together resources for my next queue. Only now I know a lot more, and can get some really helpful stuff in the round tower. I agree that the old worlds are suffering though from having so many of the actives spending most of their time in purgatory. And I wonder what it will be like when we all go back home with our winnings, only to find most people still closed, and very few willing to fight except by appointment during tk tourneys. Some of us who thrived in purgatory may find it too boring in our old worlds without all the action.

I should qualify for the wooden prize today then I'm dropping the server. I don't have time for 2 servers to be honest. Thats why i haven't put up more than 3 cities and 1 of those is only 20% built at best. But its a decent enough prize in the wooden crate so was worth the effort. It HAS damaged the original worlds though which are a lot quieter now. But I have found that useful if I'm honest because I can place in might comps a lot better now with a fraction of the might. So all in all I'm conflicted to be honest. I just hope we will be allowed to take whats left in our inventories over to main world from purgatory because master hammers are SO much easier to get there!

ive over 2000 trophies now and all i am doing is wall might 24/7 across 5 cities and training troops as required. i'm also healing troops when required as well so its pretty simple to play this server as long as you set your devices not to close the app so you're present here when tourneys end lol

Thats a bit stupid, if I may say. I don't have time for 2 servers, but I just played in Purg for the last 3 weeks. As of tomorrow I do have all the time for my normal server

No one forced to play the purgatory world. in fact building 4 or 5cities in purgatory was just a couple of hrs to build.
i dont gem in purg even if there alot still gemming there. but i dont care.. i dont spend too much time there. i just played15 to 30 mins then i go to my original world. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i gained more than 2000 trophies. no sweat at all. my question is?

                  why you complain too much???????
kabam gave this event really good. and giving all players a chance to have good gear and items.
for me. purg is way better than previous seasons.
this time im backing up kabam. just for now. lol

                  regards,

i agree to a player said he build walls 24/7. yes im doing that one. i trained 30mins per q or 1hr per q for 24hrs. then i can sleep and work and have a happy life in my real life lol. when i came back to purg for 15mins. well, i get the 8 tourny prizes. small amount of prizes will do. im good with it. again. this is the last day today in purg event and i earned more than 2000 trophies. no sweat in playing. lol

its just a matter of "strategy" of how you handle your time in the game. you dont need to spend so much time and you dont need to spend so much money on it. just chill and play nicely but surely. :-)

I'm one of the noobs that started in purgatory a few days ago. I did it to just see what it was like. Didn't spend a dime on it but was able to fully build two cities, get a knight to 215 with almost fully forged wisdom armour ( yeah I know not too impressive) and get over a hundred trophies just by getting a few hits and training a bit each day. Didn't spend too much time after the initial build. If I had of started earlier I would have reach 500 trophies very easily which would have been good enough for me. I was happy enough with what I did. It was a change from the drudge of the normal day to day of The game. ( no I don't work for kabam). The game is what you make of it. If this event was to happen again I would definitely do it again. Just wouldn't spend anything on it and would keep my expectations low.

This is a great event actually. A lot of people actually became active again and had lots of fun. It's a throw back to the old days of training, scouting, and hitting with alliance coordination complemented with newer features of the game. You don't need to commit a lot of time if you're just qualifying for lower end prizes. I built up 3rd and 4th city in less than an hour thanks to the city and field acceleration from merlin. There is also no advantage to gain or advantage to lose if you are less active in your main worlds. What's happening in your main world? Same comps which have been going on for past few months? The only thing we can gain in the main world is troops n tokens n maybe gems from campaign and it takes no more than 20 mins. The only thing I agree with you is that it caused main worlds to be much less active and also made from players frustrated from the lack of activity.

I liked the open cities concept etc. I did not like rebuilding cities at all. Eventhough the build time was more reasonable. I actually only built 3 cities and a Rez city (just enough cotts for all level of 10 Rez fields). The last city I skipped altogether as burnout set in. Not saying it was a bad event. I wish builds were instant like going from level 10 to level *1. Even the 10 seconds proved a bit painful over and over again.

I've complimented them on the prizes. I just don't want to ever build cities from scratch again. But they tried to make it more of an even playing field so they get my respect there.
