It seems battle system has changed, at one time u had to be unmarshalled for a reinforcing knight to take over, now it supposable does it automatically that highest knight takes over. But how is that determined is it by the knights stats, lvl, or total buffs? Or is it last kniggt to reinforce. And does the player still need to unmarshall in order for better knight take over. I have seen *5 knights take over other knights with worse gear. So who does take over and how is it determined, and does player still need unmarshall

which knight takes over in battle

The way I have always understood it is that the highest level knight takes over. Gear doesn't play a role. You don't need to be unmarshalled to accept a rein knight, but your knight has to be of a lower level. I recently learned (thanks to merged worlds) that some people [or worlds, rather] thought of it your way, but I think that was never true; people simply didn't test it.
I didn't find any specific rule for which knight takes over when there are multiple knights of the same level, but there still might be one.

Tryong figure out how it choses we have had knights defended with worse gear buffs then knights with better gear. One rumor was its the last k ight that reinforces. So trying figure it out. And yes in the past u had to unmarshall on reinforce knight would not take over. Alot has changed in past yr in this game with sainted, custodian, heros and so on. So my question really is is it last knight shows up, one with highest base stats, oe one with best gear consudering all are sainted.

As i said before, it takes one of the knights with highest level. How it chooses which one (if there are multiple), I don't know. It's not highest base stats (that would still not be well defined), and it's not best gear. It might be the last one coming, but I did not test that. Either way, your best bet is to make sure that every knight, that is not supposed to rein, is lvl 255 or lower, because that's the primary rule.

So if 2 people send a 260 knight, whichever arrives last is marshal.
Strength of gear makes no difference, strictly timing.
Not sure though how if that knight leaves, which knight then takes over again.
