  • Second City Tips Please

Been hitting pict camps pretty hard and now am at 93/100 crests. I anticipate in next day or two I'll have enough. Any pointers from those of you with 2 cities?

I know you have to have a plain wild captured to build a city but why build on a lvl 10 plain when you can build on a lvl 1 plain?  You suffer much heavier losses taking a lvl 10 plain...

Build second city close to your first city? What buildings to build in second city? I know not to build farms in second city due to the no desertion exploit so just max out the other resources? Lots of cottages and barracks to keep pumping out troops? If I build another alchemy lab will I be able to research 2 things at once?

Any changes to original city once you establish a second city?

Any tips would be appreciated, if more info is needed for my original city please ask

Congrats on your crests! Those last ten were the devil for me, haha.

When I got my 2nd city I asked around and no one was aware of any benefit to building on a level 10 plain versus a level 1 plain. So no advantage that I know of.

I would advise building a fairly far distance away, maybe 100 spaces. Mine is far enough away from my first city to be about 2 mins away on a transport (longer for a troop reinforcement) with a level 9 relief station. This was just to ensure that my second city wasn't TOO easy to find if someone first found my 1st city.

I would build everything except an embassy in your 2nd city. I did not build a watchtower in mine, partly because I wasn't sure if the one in my 1st city would warn of attacks incoming to my 2nd city (I am still not sure), and also because it just takes up a spot that could be used for barracks. So build everything but the embassy as everything else is necessary to build the respective troops (blacksmith, stable) and the wall (workshop).

Build ALOT of barracks in your 2nd city so you can really crank out the troops. Cottages aren't really as necessary as long as they are high level because the idle population will reset over time.

For the resource fields in your 2nd city, I just built one farm (because a farm of increasing levels is required to build a stable of increasing levels) and everything else is sawmills, quarrys, and mines. It works out well because you end up being able to build the same exact amount of each (sawmills, quarrys, and mines) with one spot dedicated to a farm. Right now I have 12 of each one and 1 farm with a level 9 castle...

YES build a 2nd alchemy lab and level that baby up fast so you can research two things at once. That's really helpful.

After I made my 2nd city I went back to my 1st city and changed two things. First, I started eliminating everything but farms and then replacing them with farms. I now have 3 of each and the rest are farms. Obviously this was to produce a ton of food in this city. I also removed some cottages and replaced them with barracks just to build troops faster.

I think that's all of your questions, hope this helps!!

    Cheers!

      EDIT: Spelling
      1) I can confirm that plain level has no impact.

      2) Agreed build far enough away so not easy to find but close enough that you can move stuff around quickly.

      3) An embassy is required if you want to receive reinforcements. A watchtower is required if you want to know you are getting attacked (your watchtower in 1st city does not help). Stable and workshop are only required if you want to make Tier 2 or Tier 3 troops otherwise they can be left off (well the workshop deconstructed after wall is built). The Blacksmith is not required for Tier 1 troops but does give a 10% training bonus per level so it is better to keep it.

      4) Yes lots and lots of barracks. Around 6 cottages is usually more than sufficient but it depends on how often you log on.

      5) Farms should be in the city that does NOT house your troops. So it isnt specific to 1st or 2nd city. Troops should always be parked in the city with no farms.

      6) Lab is fine if you are still researching. Otherwise deconstruct it when research is done and add another barrack.

On number 6, are you saying lab in second city? Or can you actually have no labs in either city but still have the bonuses if you finished your research in that town?

I can't seem to get control of a plain. Have attacked several and been victorious, but troops just come home. What am I doing wrong?

make sure your wilds don't reach the max, i.e level 9 castle can held 9 wilds, if you already have 9 wilds, you can't have further, free one slot to gain the plain, simply abandon the wild.

I'm using 1st city for food and wood, gonna use 2nd city for ore and stone, storing my troops in 2nd city with no food for the desertion. Is there still no desertion if i keep just 1 farm (so i can build a stable and upgrade it)?

Think you better can make your farms in second city as you did attack pictcamps from your first city to get your second city and you still want to use the leveled knight for attack for resources, walls and troops. This way your troops can stay in the first city (with the higher knight)!

But I also think it doesn't really matter where you put your second city. If you start building the storehouse, they can't take away your resources and you will open up a space for an extra barack as you don't have to build a relief station.
