  • Upgrading to the new levels in the troop city

Hi everybody, I like so much the new levels of the buildings, but I've noticed some troubles in it. How can I with my 6.00b migth build in my troop city? Everyone know that the troops have theirs stomachs empty, and they need to eat. The upgrade of the city troops, this way, is impossible. My suggest to solve it:

    - turn off the food maintenance for the troops permanently or temporary

  • #2

Yes this is going to be the hard part for alot of us, need to make it so the troop city doesnt need that much food so we can at least update some buildings.. :-))

    • #3
The new elevated buildings are essentially useless unless u are a newer players as a 6 bil might player you most likely have a 255 knight or higher which makes the knight upgrade useless .the blacksmith upgrade only allows for more gear storage and a lot of us bigger players want to get rid of our excess gear not be able to store more

      • #4
You can also build in your troop city it just takes alot of food and fast fingers lol

        • #5
I agree. Its impossible to upgrade in your troop city. Please Kabam turn off the food in the troop city, even for just a short time.

          Thank you.

            Hi guys,

we're discussing possible increases of March Sizes with the Dev team.
That said, there's no plan to halt the food consumption for troops.

If i may ask: What's the trouble about not willing to erase the food upkeep in cities?

I can only think of the good things it will bring.. :

1.) When the upkeep is erased, it means that many alliances can protect their food in an open city.
2.) When people are open with food, it increases the action and fights on the map, because everybody wants food.
3.) Now, every alliance is creating a bubble bank to protect their food weekly. Those bubble banks are filling up the map.
4.) The players who normally would build a bank account up, and empty the bank and send it to the next new bank, will have more time to play the actual game again.
5.) We can build in every city, without having to move troops cause of the high upkeep.
6.) which also means people start attacking other people more often because there is chance that players will have food in multiple cities.
7.) 99% of the servers, are normal servers. which means unlike hardcore servers, the food upkeep is rather useless anyway because troops won't die when food runs out.

The only reason i can think of, why you don't want to erase the food upkeep, is because you are making money when an alliance decides to extend the bubble with an extra week which costs 1.99 euro.

Assuming that's the only reason.. Common guys, lets be honest.. it's only 2 euro a time.. and look at all the 7 positive mentioned points it could have on the servers. It surely outwages it.

p.s.1: (i understand not every alliance could protect their food behind an open player. But that's the same with wood, stone, ore, gold now aswell, so in that aspect, it wouldn't change a thing for those players), but for the players who are already an open bank it will. And players who have doubts.. you will take doubts to do it away when they know it's worth it because it will save them alot of time.

p.s.2: Increasing the march size is ALWAYS a good thing, so do that anyway!

              Regards, Bierkes

So Ganstack, you are actually saying that we cannot upgrade our buildings in the troop city. You could up the troop movement limit to 500k but that wouldn't really help.

Thanks for the update, Ganstack. Would you please clarify the reason you will not consider halting food consumption for troops? I can understand that in hardcore worlds, or special event worlds like purgatory and inferno. But in the vast majority of worlds where troops stay put while they starve, there is no real purpose of food consumption for troops. The only thing it does is limit players from being able to train or build in our troop cities. And as Bierkes points out, since we can't store food in our troop cities without having it all eaten, players spend way too much time every week emptying and moving and rebuilding banks rather than playing the game. I can’t think of a single positive reason for keeping the food upkeep setting for traditional worlds. Can you help us understand?

                  • #10
I agree the troop food consumption does not serve a purpose on a standard server. There is no penalty for having more troops than your food production can support. If it serves no purpose, then why have consumption?

Increasing he reassignment troop limit would make it easier build when necessary, but you still can't train on a regular basis.

If increasing the reassignment limit, please make it a sizeable increase. It takes a very long time to move a few billion might.

Why can't we have a delay in food consumption?
Let's say food will only consumed 5 minute after arriving... That would give everybody time enough to:
                      - Build
                      - Train
                      - Send farmed food to other cities

I don't see any issues. Even better: it would increase the action:
People will farm more with their troop-city, instead of with one of their other cities.

                      • #12
Lol food consumption may not seem to serve a purpose since troop abandonment isn't on but it adds to something called strategy you are supposed to have the foresight to finish building your troop city before you reach a bill might . yes it is difficult to build in a troop city but not impossible it is very possible . I have over a bil might on 2 servers and 2 bill on another and 35 bil in hobbit ( which I bet has a far higher upkeep then anyone that has posted here) and I can still build in all my troop cities

So when Elevation mode was first announced on 08-01-2013 we should have had the foresight that two years later, the Blacksmith and Knights Hall would be included as well? Perhaps. At that time, I probably had only 20 million in might to move. No big deal. But moving 133.7M troops is a half a day event.

Those 133.7M troops are living on 21K food per hour but require 2.65B per hour in upkeep. So really the food consumption does not seem pointless, it is pointless on a non-hardcore server.

Even if it does not change, at least allowing a very large reassignment limit would ease the burden. I have moved millions of troops before and will do it again. Just not looking forward to it.

....maybe merge this thread with the 'update rules' thread in General Discussion....same topic
