Hello,
I'm an established, and well known, player, and senior officer in one of the highest ranking guilds on my server. I am one of the most active and hardworking players on my server, and have a fair amount of extra income I didn't mind spending. I am addicted to the community and was addicted to the progression of this game. However, recent changes have ruined my experience, and I find myself experiencing frustration and annoyance more than joy and fun. And that is why I no longer think my time in Camelot is well spent.
Let's start with itemization, or card drop rates, as that is the straw that broke the camel's back. Yesterday, I killed the Totem Guard in Brocieliande 105 times, even using the hated reflect combos (which cost me roughly $50 over the course of several mini games and promos to obtain) it took ALL of my leisure time. In my opinion, a fair reward for that much work would have been 2-3 of the card I saught. One or two, I could have chalked up to bad luck, but, I recieved ZERO cards. I wasted all of my free time, and even shirked some personal responsibility, because I NEEDED a couple of that card. Clearly, I found that quite annoying.
That's not my only terrible experience with trying to obtain a high level card. Over the past 2 months I have spent another $50-75 on the "I am Vambreal?" pulls. What kind of rewards has that gotten me? 60 useless Taal cards. I spent enough money to buy a top tier new console game to get imaginary cards in this game... And received essentially nothing. Think about that. How much "fun" do you feel $75 entitles you to? I'm sure it's more than nothing. But I actually paid that much just to be annoyed and feel regret. My time in Camelot is adequately summed up by the massive pile of Taal cards I've connected. "A bunch of rubbish and broken promises."
Speaking of Vambreal, there have also been Ishtar and Spirit Booster summons, using summomstones for him and Arial. I spent 200+ on those, and acquired neither. Far more than bad luck, this reeks of abusive and misleading write ups for abysmally small odds. The type of which, that frankly, should be illegal. Somehow the collectable Summon Stones somehow had always brought me better luck then my real money purchases. So there was hope.
Which is lastly, of my first category, the most recent Summon Storm. The last bastion of hope, for me to obtain a few cards that are useful to me. Out of 175 summon stones; I obtained one immediately useful card, and zero that I plan on using in the future, along with a handful of 5* cards that have no use due to poor combo compatibility. Which, hey, sometimes that happens. However I noticed that I pulled a lot more 3 and 4* cards then usual. I checked the recent summons (which I always watch closely) and it concerned my suspicion... The storm has been "nerfed." The last joy we, as players, had has been diminished.
And that's category #2 the nerfing nerfhammer of nerfdom. Which has mercilessly assaulted every aspect of this game. It started with Vambreal Vault, LOOONG odds became the norm. The rumbling forest chest paid out too much, and now it's dialed way back. Chests of Chests used to be a great shot at getting your moneys worth, and the just several I've bought (10-20$ the last 3 times they've been up) gave me nothing.
Chests in general were fairly reliable, but the FM box, Chest of Chests, and Make Up Chests were the best buy in the game. CoC and FM seem to have taken a massive Nerf, and Make Up chests have been replaced by the "new and improved" Merlin's Make Up Chests... Which, in the many chests I've collected or bought, has never given me more than 15 ss or 25 potions... A terrible nerfing compared to the make up chests we relied on before. It's clear that, while HoC was always focused on leaching cash from our wallets rather than providing us with enjoyment, we've gone off the deep end and straight into "Screw the consumer and rely on their addiction to keep them here." territory, instead of providing a fun game we WANT to spend money on.
And what are the predictable reactions people have to these insane odds, and abusive practices? They either take their wallet and go home, as I have chosen to do. Or they cheat. Which is becoming rampant, precisely due to the fact that progressing in your game has become unbearably difficult, time consuming, and expensive.
The cheating and hacking is not a one time loss for Kabam, either. It's a domino effect, just days before my decision to quit a true legend on our server, unbeatable and determined to stay that way at all costs, quit. Because, while his spending thousands is indecipherable from cheating to many, to him it's part of the game. And buying success was still honorable. However, when he lost an arena due to hacking by other players he felt disrespected, and that his purchases were devalued, when someone else could cheat their way past him.
So, in conclusion, adieu to my friends in Camelot, and good riddance to the burden that keeping up in this game has become. A fun time killer, became a frustrating life waster. And it just doesn't seem worth it to me. I'm sure Kabam will still keep it's bottom line without me, and that's fine. But how long can players be leached dry, and denied reward before this whole thing dries up? I already don't see the newest players sticking around, and the morale of the older established players is in the gutter. Without significant changes, this game will stop pulling in new revenue, and Kabam will pull the plug, and all of our accomplishments in Camelot; our cards, our stats, our guilds, our leaderboards, will dissapear in the blink of an eye. You'll simply log in one day, to find that it's all gone.
