  • Confessions of a big spender

Let me qualify here first. I had a T4 Fallen Vambrael. I spent a ton to get him too. I had a top 3 deck in my realm, quit for 5 months and came back to still a pretty decent deck with 950k hp. Within another 2 months, I was running a 1.2M hp deck with a T4 Fallen team on my front and a had a top 10 deck. Within 3 weeks of spending to get that Fallen, I gave the deck away for free to guildmate. Why? Ice Overlord.

Here's the deal, I had T4 Icelord like anyone else and it was great when it proc'd first based on your mana cost. I bumped mine up and beat the players I expected to beat and lost to none of the ones I should't have. Once they nerfed it and made it an extremely volatile card, and all of a sudden I was losing to players who just happened to have a T1 icelord in their decks because they may have proc'd one more time than me which was a extremely significant difference on how quickly I could put them down, so I decided to go after Fallen cause I thought it would make a difference. What I discovered was that even though I didn't lose as often, I still had a chance to lose to basically anyone with an Icelord, and I mean almost anyone. What does this mean? It means that no matter how much I spent, I would never be a top deck anymore because Icelord made top decks null.

Fast forward a month. I gave away the deck I spent so much for Fallen on because all the money I spent didn't allow me to beat any new players due to Icelord and I was pissed and quit caring. Instead I took the top deck in the realm because that player was bored and just wanted to give the account away to someone who would put it to good use. So now I have a deck that before this event is only missing 2 Godly cards. Yes, that is correct. There are only 2, 6* cards I don't have finished. And they are all 7 or 8 cards. The cards? Soul Cage and Fallen Vambrael.

So now imagine it, I have almost every card available at my fingertips and guess what, I still lose to anyone with an Icelord. You think about how much your deck sucks and if only you had X card.. it doesn't matter. Face an Icelord and you'll lose anyway. The truth is, you can have every single card available in the game and you will still lose to a player who has icelord. So yes, I hate this card, and kabam needs to severely nerf this card because it has absolutely removed any benefit to being a big spender.

With that said, I'm still a sucker and dropped $500 on this new promo. Only got 1 of Twilight Arbiter. Kabam is really screwing the spenders. Not only will spending on this card not help me since Icelord is still gonna kick my ***, but they don't even make the card hardly available!!

I have about 3 ideas that would make this game fun again for both spenders and non, but I have a feeling kabam has given up and I feel like it might be time I did too.

thats great story I ever heard..

      Im Sorry for you.
We all have that. I have been in this game since Spetember 2013 (Yes 2013 not a mistake) and trust me I love it but they need to think over stuff they do before they do them - last year shiver was awesome but then they nerfed it and it became the most useless card ever. I was sure they will do the same with iceoverlord but what they did is to make him even more horrible they just decreased his proc rate to make that **** so dangerous now. Everyone above a mil dec can win and lose depending on proc rates.... this is crazy.

        Yeah man I agree .

All I see is another guy who complains about OP cards. Ice Overlord OP blah blah blah I can't win blah blah blah nerfed it blah blah blah. Itlf you quit because of one card then all of can say is that's just sad but you do you but seriously there's probably going to be a card better than IO along the way and what your going to want Kabam to nerfed it too? So all the people who fought hard for pe t4 Ice Overlord should be ****ed over simply because you Lost more Arena matches? Grow up kid it's a game and if you can't take it then you can leave but don't go complaining and ruin an aspect of the game for people. Losing in arena sucks especially if it's by some lucky proc but in the end it's a game it will not affect your life in anyway unless you start spending hundreds or thousands an die that's the case then you just need to stop. Anyway stop complaining and move on

          • #6
You do know you always lose when you spend big right? Lol even if you get best cards for $1,000 was it worth it? Doubt it. Top decks don't even mean anything in terms of gameplay

            • #7
This is the expected result with Ice Overlord and Death and Decay. Kabam wanted the game to be like this.

I think the marketing team is dull though... I see now is the perfect time to push out bonus might potion but hmm... they don't seem to care

              • #8
                why complain that much.
the game is more balanced, competitive so its good for the game. stop complaining.

i also have a t4 ice...sometimes i win against one of top player in my realm, but sometimes i lose against t1 ice overlord who has lower stat. Win and lose is not a big deal in a game. Try to build your tank team better...spend again and try the golden force combo as your 1st team. Bottomline,do not blame a single card. See ur combo and how u set your deck.

                  • #10
I must say I appreciate the post Don. I think you bring up something that's needed.
Posts about balance mainly come from both extremes- the player who spends big expecting
definite results and the player who wants all of the very best cards with little to no effort.
And from my observation, most of posts about balance come from those asking for
everything to be way easier in the name of balance. So I find it refreshing when I can hear from
players who has reached to where most players want to get to.
Reading what you've discover is helpful because now players can know to temper their
expectations and efforts. Why break night to gather stones for storms, go hard in arenas for top
cards, place high in events, or throw down money when it won't matter as much because
of the threat of a single card or combo- especially if it is a free card.
Yes it helps to improve but you might as well not push it so hard in that case.
Take it down a notch. Go in a lower gear. At least that's how I take it.
I do agree that its all a game and that it should be about the journey
more than the destination and all that but when it comes to competition in a game,
I like victory to be determined by my efforts more than proc rates or random variables.
Let proc rates determine victory against equal or near equal opponents.
But then again, this game is built based on chance so it's like ????
                    What can be done anyway?
At the end of the day, you just gotta enjoy it for what it is.

Just get rid of Bonus Streaks, none cares of losing anymore, everyone enjoys a "thrilling" fight, gg.

Only thing i've got to say to Ice Overload (but, to be correct, to "Freeze effect") is that such powerful skill shouldnt be couple with a "whole party" description... it should target one team only. (ie: Freeze the team with the highest atk OR Freeze the team with the lowest HP)

That would make it powerful AND balanced

                      • #12
From my point of view its ok that even strongest deck can lose game from time to time )
And IO was nerfed already, so there is no reason to nerfed it again ...

BTW - I have only T2 IO and im NOT playing him ;-)

                            Twilight Arbiter...
Ice Overlord cannot stop Death and Decay... but does Sir Percival?

                            • #15
No sir Percival does not stop death and decay and some of the arguments I can agree with and also disagree with I spent 150 dollars on event pack summons did 4 top tier summons and not one single legendary out of 150 dollars I was a spender I spend around 2 to 3 hundred a month. But after this pack I will no longer pump dollars into a company that doesn't care to reward their investors! There is no way 48 cards at 15x plus ten at 12x and so on down to their 1 did not produce 1 single legendary if those percentages are actual!
