  • What is Ruining HOC?

Don't just say greed, since it's every game publishers right to want money.

-Lack of balance with game resources. Gold, Potions, Tickets, Summon Charms, Summon Stones and so on. There should be a balance to where each of these resources should always be valuable. Kabam made it so only Summon Stones are valuable and aside from hurting the game probably cost them income too. I remember when i started and potions were tougher to come by I'd actually login when I woke up just to use some stamina so it could refill later or when I got a makeup chest and it contained 15 stamina potions I was super happy because I needed them.

-Max Level Feeders - Before these existed, when you got a shiny new 6* you generally had to work to level it up and eventually evolve. Now every card you get you can level easily with no cost really. Then all your cards are T4 and you run out of things to do quickly because you don't need to grind at all to level any new cards. Same goes for gold costs, you have so much gold it doesn't matter how much it costs to level or evolve.

-Not better integrating Gems into the game. You can earn some gems via achievement, but if Kabam was smart they would sprinkle ways to earn gems throughout the game. Even if it is only 1 or 2 gems, it'd make people want to try and earn them and probably make people spend more. There used to be gem prizes in Arena. Their summon packs cost so much and can pay so little it frustrates players to spend $100 and get no good cards, so if they could recoup some it'd keep them spending.

-Lacking innovation. Last few events have been perfect cookie cutters of each other with just different cards. There are plenty of ways to spice it up that take little effort but they don't even try anymore.

-Less and less strategy. New combos can address this, but many top decks throw out the same "top deck" without much strategy to it. How often do players change around their deck to win a challenge? Almost never because they just take their best deck and grind through arena. There should be a tournament system and ways to actually duel with decks and form strategies.

-Reflect and Wandering Bosses. The skill itself is great and could be fun for deck building, but making wandering bosses in events reliant on having reflect? You take the point of building a top deck and say screw your top deck, just get reflect and grind 700 battles. What they should do is balance wandering boss stats to where the better your deck, the easier your chance and then increase drop rate so you don't have to fight 700 battles for 8 cards. Maybe even give people a reason to use the reflex element in battle?

-No logic to prizes. I'll use the Tower as an example.. Aside from Ice Overlord, Snow Man and MAYBE Winter Soldier, they just threw old crap cards for prizes in tower. Cards everyone has 100's of. A smart company would have made a list of unique tower only cards. Oh and they would have made the tower randomly generated.

    I could keep going, but I won't

+1 though i do not miss the grinds of stamina/mana or arena tickets (nostalgia tells me i do).

I do wish it was more strategic and in a small step they have but these new abilities are so overpowering because 95% of the cards made are unable to counter. (yes i made up that statistic)

You´re right, there is definetly no perfect Game. And yes - HoC is not ruined yet, but it´s on the best Way to get ruined! The worst thing for me at the Moment is that there are more and more Hackers and Cheaters on the Realms than ever before. Today we discovered the first one on our Realm (kay-4) since i Play HoC. Óther Realms are constantly complaining about Hackers and Cheaters, and no one seems to giva a damn about it! And this circumstance will definetly Ruin the Game within the next Months, i´m sure about that!!

And btw - i totally agree with all Points listed above by bbatardo!

I said ruining, not ruined Obviously a lot of the points I made can be changed and not everyone will agree with my points too, but as I have slowly strayed towards a new game.. my memories of my love for HOC are not forgotten.

Well it is greed. They don't care about their players long term, they just want to pump as much money out of em as possible short term. If they burn em and leave disappointed costumers behind it doesn't matter - they already have their money.

I don't agree because why would you want say a 1 time $100 out of a player when you could string them along and earn $1,000 from them over the long haul? I don't think they intentionally do it, just don't plan well when it happens.

You have some very valid points there. I agree with your points and the GM team recognize the state of the game and is working with the game team to improve the HoC experience.

Many of the situations in HoC (Lots of pots floating around, Max lvl feeders, etc) are natural for a game that progresses over a year. For example think of a particular Fantasy MMORPG that now allows you to start with a Lvl 90 character with raid gear/pvp gear, when before you had to work really hard to obtain that small, yet sweet, satisfaction of one loot drop. The game grows and changes and thus, so does the experience.

The games economy (tickets, gold, SS, etc) is constantly changing, inflating and deflating daily. Looking at the larger, ideal picture and trying to realize it is quite the challenge, but we the GM team try to push for it everyday.

This feedback is always good, and we appreciate it greatly. I may not get to post on all of the threads, but I do read them and I do take notes.

Again, thank you for you feedback and playing HoC.

Thanks for the acknowledgement Sp4z. Notice how Arena's weren't mentioned in the gripes.. for all the gripes, Arena's have definitely been far improved and kept the game going for many. I'd like to see the game plan for the long term future and many players who have invested lots of time and money probably feel the same.

My guess is it'd be easier to rip ten people off for 100$ than to string one sucker up for 1000$ and then you're left with a simple business decision. Putting up events with st christmas right after an event where people without reflect had no chance due to 194m, but with silly low ates so they're forced to spend a ton unless they're very lucky - just a coincidence? Twice? No sir, that's a calculated move not circumstances aligning by themselves.

That said, there's plenty of other problems but they tangent the corporate greed one. Cheaters and the way they're not handled is just an example. Is it because it's hard to spot the cheaters? Obviously not, so why does it go on and on? Simple, there's not enough resources there to deal with them because costumer satisfaction isn't a priority - they're not in it for the long haul. Maybe I'm just overly cynical?

Cheater threads are frequent. We see them every day. The Banhammer could be swift and sure but that doesn't stop the cheaters from getting back up. The game team has to find a fix for the cheats first otherwise for every banned account two more accounts would sprout out.
