reviews say it all. just saying....

the three reviews from the apple store:

        Customer Reviews

        by NamcoBandaiFan
As a major LOTR fan, I was super excited to see a LOTR game got featured. I was disappointed. The entire game is one button! All you do is hit a button that says "explore". Then, on an unchanging background, it tells you what your characters found. When I got into a battle, I thought it would be awesome, but once again I was disappointed. The battles have ZERO INVOLVEMENT. You don't control your characters, or activate special abilities, or even hit an attack button. The battles consist of two still images on your screen with slowly decreasing health bars. Not to mention that the enemies (including the bosses) were pathetically weak compared to my default team. Good music and good graphics are the only positive things I can think of for this game. No offense, but why are people rating this 5/5 stars?

        Played for 30 min

        by Thrillakillamynigga
I just downloaded and have played for about 30 minutes, and it seems so far that you click walk, get coins, sometimes a character will say something like "This place isn't everything thats icky around here..", then you take a few more steps. There is hardly any depth to the game, the typical fusion of characters to empower other ones. Scenery and 2d characters are drawn "nicely"(?) . Battles, you do no interaction. You can hit the skip button to skip the song and dance routine and either win or die. Thats in 30 min.

        This is pathetic

        by Carissa Lannon
This game has absolutely no strategy and is monotonous. Like others, I am a huge LOTR fan and wanted an interactive game that will let me play in that world. This game isn't it. All you do is hit one button to either explore or attack. There are no battles that make you feel part of it. This is a boring turn based game. You can't even chose your character. The small battles let you watch while the "players" attack, but there is basically zero animation. Will someone let me be an elf so I can actually attack people... This is an embarrassing excuse of a game especially considering how much this franchise is worth.
same Gem Scheme as here, think I will pass.

            Same game, "better" graphics.
I love a lot more the HoC's art.

I'm not willing to spend money / time on the same game...

              The things I noticed :
              a)No guilds yet,
b)The chat you have to read from top to bottom in LOTR. In HOC, its from bottom to top. (i was so confused at first )
c)3d characters, but for some reason I like HOC artwork better. Mobile 3D graphics never appeal to me.

I downloaded played 30 minutes and deleted it. The artwork is horrible if u ask me...I like HOC art more

On iOS, HoC always displayed the latest chat at bottom, until very recently. On Android it was always at the top and you scrolled down to read older chat.

I noticed LOTR is also like iOS was, with latest chat at the bottom. Personally I prefer it this way, but consistency across platforms and games would be nice.

I tried the game and played up to the third city and these are my thoughts:

Essentially a clone of HoC as far as the programming foundation; Questing, arena, upgrading, summoning, shop, mithral (gem) purchasing, etc. are all the same, with different LOTR names.

They went with more 3d graphics which are sadly very lackluster compared to the beautiful artwork and layered imaging you see on HoC cards and Legionaries especially. Evolution tiers are also not as clear...not a game breaker, but annoying

One nice feature is that you can create two different parties; one for questing and one for arenas. I consider this its only true redeeming quality.

Considering the LOTR IP they are using for this game, I think it falls very short from being anything long least in this stage of the game.

Honestly this game I really only seeing attracting people who absolutely LOVE the LOTR series and are either able to forgive all of its shortcomings, or this is their first card collecting/battling game and they don't know any better

Even the cost is also 210 mithril and there is champion summon and summon charm for 200 charms each so very similar

This is an obvious sign that HoC will be abandoned by Kabam.

I saw Aaron's posts on LOTR forum. He abandoned us! So sad!

HOC has been milked way too far, so they remake HOC into a new game with a new name, so they can again scam players because we are not giving them enough money. HOC has reached it's end cycle haha Kabam games don't last long.

I see a lot of ppl here say they like this game but have no control over anything really. I say try "summoners war" then. To me it's a mix of Pokemon and D&D all in one. You get to pick what your players do you get to give them ruins to up power and go in the direction you want not what they want you to do. Also you get to watch the creatures battle not just look at cards flutter and shine a bit. This game has become. Very repetitive and boring and in summoners war you at least get special things daily and can fight real ppl or do the adventure. I say check it out. I only stay here in hoc and am only staying till after Halloween to see if I can get more gaznar if not I'm done. I got one last Halloween and zip since and wasted a crapload of stam and mana on the wandering one to level 50+ (lost count on battles after 50) for none. I suggest if your sick of spending an arm and a leg plus your left nut for one 6* card to actually search for new non kascam made games you will find one you like better than this one 100% guaranteed!
