Welcome to our second edition of Conspiracy Theory. In this edition we will examine this weeks anniversary of Heroes of Kabam and delve into the reasons.
Growing From A Self Inflicted Wound, also known as a False Flag Attack.
A brief example in history;
Then senator Hitler had the German Reichstag burned down and blamed political terrorists in order to rise to power and introduce his national socialist party.
The federal government allowed and/or involved itself in the September 11th terrorist attacks to introduce a militarized police, the NSA, TSA, Patriot Act and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for the sake of further controlling its population, for resources abroad and an endless revenue stream for its military industrial complex.
The US government attacked its own navy ship in the Gulf of Tonkin in order to justify the Vietnam war.
Throughout history governments, corporations and rulers have used false flag attacks and self inflicted wounds in order to further or strengthen their causes and to diminish their opponents.
Rahm Emanuel, former chief of staff to President Hussein Obama put it best: "never let a good crisis go to waste, and what I mean by that is to take an opportunity to do something that you think you could not do before."
Kabam and its self inflicted wound.
I personally think that Kabam believes HOC has had its time. There are several games currently in development that will be rolling out soon. All 3 of these games are licensed/franchise games like The Hobbit and Fast & Furious that have a much larger revenue potential and will require a much more stable game to live up to.
Kabam received an investment of over 120$ Million from Alibaba this year and most of those funds will be looped back into the company's Product and Development teams. This means that moving forward Kabam will build better games and have more marketing capital to bring them out with.
On the flip side games like Kingdoms of Camelot and Heroes of Camelot, etc. will get less and less attention as their revenue will be replaced by another game. This is a standard model for Free-To-Play gaming companies, they make a game, milk it and move onto the next one.
I think that Kabam used this weeks anniversary and its associated promotions to make a final effort at a Smash and Grab on its community and wound itself (the game) to the point that it will begin to die off by itself. This means for Kabam that they can start focusing on less content offerings, focus less on fixes and use their art and development teams on other projects.
Kabam offered as many promotions as possible this week to push for a strong income on their game to show good percentages on their quarterly reports. They allowed the flames of rage to burn down the player base and upset enough players to leave the game to make entire servers dead and empty, which in turn will make more players leave the game. Following this model only leads me to believe they want to kill the game.
Their community managers, the only connection point between players and company took a leave of absence in potentially the most important days of the games lifespan in order to avoid replying to the issues and formulate their standard responses. They made late, bugged and down right false advertising promotions to further push the agenda. The final blows were implemented by the Golden Cards, Mini Game and Token "Pack", much like the "Overwhelming threat" Iraq posed the weeks after 9/11. Both as it turns out were only smoke and mirrors for an ulterior motive.
I have a growing feeling that much like the Night of Long Knives (hitlers purge of german government, history for you kids), Kabam will soon usher in a great purge on its players. They will have a large crack down on cheaters, people who refunded/charged back on purchases and even many outspoken, critical players on the forums. The resulting bans will remove their kabam accounts and associated forum posts, reducing the visible complaints about the game and kabam and further making server populations die off. Any new players and spenders that come along the way will only be a plus bonus to kabam as they will not expect or focus on revenue making from this game anymore.
Kabam has offered no fixes to the issues, no compensation to the problems and no sign of resolution besides standard "we hear your feedback" in the last week with its game. This should only further my opinion as something that can be taken with serious thought. They have shown us that they do not care about player lifespan, player satisfaction and game quality, only profits, revenue and income.
Be warned fellow gamers, for in all walks of life, history repeats itself and we have a classic case here of Nero and the burning of Rome. While Rome was ablaze and people were dying and the city was crumbling, Nero was busy drinking wine, partying and caring about nothing except himself. Kabam is Nero and we are Rome ablaze.
