"Unexpected" release of Castle Siege was a setup by Kabam.

This was done on purpose; just compare the two types of events:
Calamity type requires that players spend several hundred dollars to have a chance to compete and have a decent bonus, Castle Siege requires nothing. Meaning that Kabam has to assign probably the same resources but CS provides no profit.
They basically setup Castle Siege for failure so players won’t ask for that and they can keep Calamity type events that will generate a lot of profit from them.
    Nice Move Kabam!

Not really true. Calamity events pay back in tickets, pots, stones. True you have to buy cards if you'd like top prizes but even without you still get pots and stones

Castle siege is huge mana drain. Note they don't even offer mana pots on sale this time. There are no good rewards for participation comparing to Calamity. Raid rewards are pathetic comparing to cost. Nothing drops as you walk. Unless you spend a lot on mana you are not going to get anything from this event. Meh

So between the both I'd prefer calamity even if I won't spend a dime

Agreed. And the only reason Castle Siege is any good is because of Calamity type events. Spend a week farming 2k mana pots and then a week blowing said mana pots solo farming Siege Bosses. Cause there's no other point to it. Taking and holding castles is pointless and even gives others an advantage by farming more pvp points by building up defenses. So just roam the map farming bosses with all the mana you got going brain dead in Calamity.

We have a lot of updates planned for Castle Siege. It's rough right now, and obviously the PVP points are messed up and unbalanced. We actually weren't going to run another one until after v3.4 or v4.0 when we get it updated (more) properly, but players asked for it despite its bruises and we eventually obliged.

Dash and I are still trying to figure out what we can do about the PVP points. There are some...issues there. This event is paid out manually, not via rankings, and so maybe we'll reward both based on the Ladder Rankings and based on the PVP gathered this week. There are just a couple remaining questions about getting the correct tracking information.

Aaron, I really appreciate your efforts and how you try everything you can to help the community, provide our rewards and fix issues. My response is purely from a logical standpoint.

All your efforts and extra work could have been avoided. Foresight, experience, and communication which are basics in running a company could have saved you from all this trouble. I see that kabaam, at least on this game, lacks all the aforementioned. But what kabaam does have is people like you who are creative, and talented in finding amendable solutions.

Firstly, I frequent this forum almost everyday and read almost all posts. There was not much noise or voice for castle siege. You had at most 1-2 threads asking for it and in general 20 posts in total that requested it. These 20 do not represent the community. To be quite frank, there have been more players asking for summon promotions instead of castle siege. This release was based on your timeline (schedule) not the players request.

Secondly, I do not see the point on releasing a defective product in spite of the knowledge of it. Did you even weigh out the pros and cons of such a venture? Sorry, releasing something unfinished, or defective is an insult to it's customers. As a customer it just feels like your trying to make a buck as fast as you can without considering the sustainability of the decision; customer long-term satisfaction seems to be thrown out the door.

Your proposed solution seems amiable. But it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. By doing so, again, your giving my opponent an added advantage in the long run (by awarding him unwarranted prizes that would affect his deck and make it stronger than mine in arena- I stress this so much due to the slippery slope concept in gaming!)

If it is awarded manually; then why award based on rankings? What point does this serve? It just adds a later of complexity, and unfairness. Just award it based on the pvp points gathered this week; since your already planning to do that. Less steps, less problems.

Sorry if this is harsh but these are all logical.

What I do propose is if you can't find a solution to the points of castle siege is this; make castle siege a week based points earned and a season based reward. I know that this is the 2nd time that you have failed to reset the points. So just make it week+An end of season; people would accept this issue of never resetting cs better.

Aye, they are indeed logical. And fair. We have bugs galore, I don't deny that. And I hope by moving to Beijing, I'll have a chance to help resolve some of these issues moving forward.

On Castle Siege / "defective product": It wasn't so much that Castle Siege was defective -- the PVP bug aside, of course. It could just use some new features to make it more exciting. Originally, they wanted to hold off. But customer insight revealed that players liked Castle Siege, and were eager for another -- even if they acknowledged it could use some improvements. It was not about a couple people posting in the forums, it was about CI. So, we decided we could run it again even if improvements are in development.

On rewards: Because the players who are at the top may currently think they don't have to grind as hard because they already have a lead. Gifting rewards just to the players who won this week is misleading for the players who are technically at the top of the ladder.

On seasons: How strange you should mention this...because this is literally what Curtis and I plan to do with Castle Sieges. But it will be more than just PVP points. Every week, or every few days, or hours, will have a different challenge. Like, successfully siege the most castles. Or a king of the hill system. Or whatever. So I like where your heads at

Despite of the "flawless" of the siege, it is a generally boring game.

We do not even know why we should conquer the castle.

Should we just attack troops, walls, and gates over and over again to gain PVP points?

It is not like a battle field at all.

Aaron if this is true.. then i will be very happy in playing more siege.. ive wasted 500+ pots or more on this and gained quite a lot PVP points.. i wont offend anyone by saying i gain more than them or anything, but im sure u and dash will be a fair judge. hope this all worked well and we didnt waste our pots to end in dissapointment.

I don't agree with rewarding the ladder ranking; but this does make sense and is sound.

With regards to cs being a defective product. I apologize, as a player, what matters to me is being able to play fair. Although it is merely a "bug" for kabaam, this is the entirety of cs for a player. I have to admit that my angle might be too pigeon-holed, and so here then, I apologize. Cs aside from this bug, is great. I understand that you may have a solution for us, and might I suggest that if you have time, would you please elaborate further on the details of how your going to provide or fix this issue. I believe the player base will appreciate this very much.

With regards to CI, I may have a different opinion on things, coming from a business intelligence background; Actual measurement vs. interpretation, lack of data (only 2 rounds of cs), and inability of data to provide a kpi on anticipation. But let's skip this part-I'm here to have a good time!

Having seasons sound great and I look forward to this! Again, thank you Aaron, Dash and Curtis for your unending efforts to listen, discuss, act and fix issues for the player base.

Last but not least, welcome to beijing! Beijing welcomes you! Before you come, please bring a gas mask, and maybe learn to scooter. Hope to see you in town!
