  • Mystery Chests in General

Please do something about these, they are completely ridiculous. I really like this game, and don't mind spending money on it, IF i were to get something in return. Putting arena tickets in these is just taking advantage of everyone. ANY other game or CCG you put money into, you get actual cards in return, not tickets to compete in an arena that you won't win b/c everyone with top decks crush through it. LIke I said I don't mind paying money for more experiences or content in games, but this is just wrong. 10 chests, 7 arena ticket rewards and random pots. Seriously, there needs to be some kind of actual reward or people will stop spending money on this game and it will die.

I fully understand your point, but that is what Booster Packs are for. Mystery Chests may contain Items that aren't cards, whereas Booster Packs will always contain only cards. Booster Packs and Mystery Chests serve slightly different roles as the Mystery Chests tend to have a lower price point than the Booster Packs.

        1) Lets look at say Magic The Gathering. One booster pack is 2.5-2.99 (http://www.trollandtoad.com/Magic%3A...1041p1n10.html) meaning for minimum amount required by Kabam to get gems is $5, you would get 2 booster packs. This current chest event is the lowest I've seen at 125, the last one was 150 and before that 200! So, no the chests are not cheaper than a booster pack.

        2) A booster pack is 15 cards. In these 15 cards you get 1 land or token (2*), 10 common cards (3*), 3 uncommon cards (4*), and 1 rare or mythic rare card (5*or 6*). So for the same price (sometimes) you get a chance at no cards.

So, essentially you're paying around 5 dollars for a chance at ONE card and that chance is very very low. Instead you get rewarded with useless arena tickets. Again, I want to restate, I do not have any problems with spending money on this game, as I rather enjoy the game and like supporting it. On the other hand, giving money for nothing in return really really rubs me the wrong way. I spent 7000 gems on the last crack knight mini game, and all I got was a Lapis Knight. So, that's $100 for ONE, ONE card that has ONE combo. How is that a good deal? Something needs to change or people will start to not buy and the game will die. I want to spend money and support this game and have fun, but probably around $500 into it, I have barely anything to show for it except frustration. Again to reference Magic The Gathering another CCG, $500 would get you a good competitive deck.

i agree with you totally. There is not much reward for the amount of cash you spend. The last booster was taal or vamb for me. i spent on 24 odd chest and got 24 taals. then i thought to myself.... the $50 i spent i on rubbish i could have spent on going to the movies and having a good time. instead i became fristrated and upset at myself for spending. i realised that i was gambling. so i am not going to spend anymore unless they change what they put in chests or how the odds work. Ive spent around $500 in total and i dont mind supporting the game because i used to enjoy it lots but i can't justify the gambling style approach that they game takes. i'd rather just donate to kabam. it would make me feel better and still support the game rather than gamble and feel ripped off.

THis is exactly what I mean. It's gambling, and the odds are 100% against you. I LOVE supporting Kabam and this game is really fun, but I can't justify the system anylonger...

Agree they need to look at mtg and hearthstone at ideas for better promoting the sale of packs, change chests/other promos to packs say 5-7 cards with one card being 5* or higher the sales would go up huge and have mire deck space so we can mass huge collections.

Right now this game may get the 1% ppl spending $$$, or the random person tossing 50$ but after seeing the crap they get they don't spend anymore cash. Over the years i wasted 10k on magic the gathering ccg have huge collection of cards i could sell for at least what i spent on them to began with, you need to add the sale of cards to other people for a transaction fee of 10% or a base amount say 1 dolllar cash per transaction. This would help increase revenue, you may want to look into Diablo 3 auction house i think something like that would work with this game.

                  Dash,

So, please refer to games like Magic The Gathering market of gathering individual cards for accurate prices. Say i wanted a rare card for my Magic deck, that card would cost be 20-50 dollars. No problem, now I want a specific card from HoC, I have to spend twice to three times that to acquire that card. I just did a test on the chests, I bought 28 chest for 3500 gems. That is a 50 dollar purchase, and I got nothing. Tickets, pots, and a lame *** berserker. This is what I am talking about, it is borderline a scam to give money to Kabam, because you get nothing in return. 50 would get you half a booster box of packs in magic, and that would be 15x50 cards, 15 rares or higher. So, why would anyone spend money on here if the results are so poor? I can understand the SS rate being so so low, because you can farm those for FREE and scoop up loot, but these promo's are real cash money that people work for, and they are rewarded with the same **** luck and no return. I mean arena tickets, give me a break. How is that even a reward? Potions, I can understand, althought the rate at which you get them is ridiculous high. How about making a promo similar to an actual booster pack, which all cards and a rare or mythic rare. (5* or higher) in each? So, to date, I've put 90 dollars on this totem guard chest and have gotten 3 berserkers and an arials champion. How does that seem fair to you? Ask yourself how you would feel if you put money into something and get virtually nothing in return? This is how a lot of people feel, they like htis game and do not mind supporting it, but it's about time to stop supporting this game for no reason. On top of all taht, I spent a lot of money on the 4th of July promo and I'm still missing a ton of cards from my treasury.....

Very good comparison with magic: I am a veteran magic card collector and it would be great to see kabam follow some type of structure with their packs instead of all randomness.

One thing to note too is that when comparing the price to magic cards you are getting actual physical cards that in some cases greatly increase in value. In HoC the cards you get have absolutely zero resell value.

I'm actually a huge MtG player, so I constantly look towards what Wizards is doing with that game. Sadly, most of it doesn't really apply to Heroes of Camelot, as there is no after market economy for cards the way there is in that game. Players can't simply hop onto eBay to purchase the specific cards they want. Instead, we need to rely on putting together boosters and mystery chests that offer more targeted cards to appeal to players who want them in particular. Because of this and the fact that our card pool is smaller, it is tricky to work with. Additionally, there are free ways to earn cards in HoC, which you don't have at all in a game like MtG. We don't want all players to have all cards, and I imagine neither does everyone else, so we have to work within some restrictions. Nevertheless, we want the experience to be as fun as possible, so if players are unhappy with the current Booster and Mystery Chest designs, we will look at alterations to make those more friendly to players. I think things like the currently running Temporal Mystery Chest do a good job of that.

                          Hey Dash,

I understand the differences in the MTG side market compared to HoC and you have a valid point. You also kind of glazed over what I was trying to get at. The point is this, a lot of people the past couple months have support kabam and given a lot of money, for minimal return. I spent $90 on the recent totem chest, you know what i got? 3 Berserkers and 1 Arials Champion. Tell me if I spent the same on a MTG booster box, I wouldn't be GREATLY more rewarded. Honestly, I woudn't even care if I got ONE totem and some of hte other cards, but I was rewarded with FOUR cards, three of which are not good. So, what did i receive for my 90? People are not giving money for tickets, no one wants that and if you go through the forums, you will see there are A LOT of people that are frustrated with getting ripped off with these events. Some of us are even considering leaving the game or disputing charges. What then? Then this awesome game dies.

"Additionally, there are free ways to earn cards in HoC, which you don't have at all in a game like MtG."

That is correct, but the difference is the free summons with SS the chance to get any good card is very very low, which is the way it should be. Everyone is ok with that, but when we give hard earned money and get the results of someone who doesn't, that is not how it should be. If you could play MTG and get free packs or pay for packs, don't you think you would be a little upset if it were teh same exact % to get good cards? Come on man.
