So, I know people hate these kind of posts, so if I cant keep this one brief, I will at least try to keep from ranting about how Im quitting and how the world isn't fair and all of that crap people say.
First off, I really loved this game, and I played daily, and I said i would never spend money on any game....but then I did spend on this one. Prolly 2-2.5K so far over the last year and a half. May seem like a lot, but I have the money, so i don't resent the spending, other guys my age spend more on golf.
Its become increasingly clear that this game is at it's end. Not just based on the absence of any kind of reasonable customer support, but the pacing of the cards being released. Remember how long it took to build the Druid Elite team? Remember how long we had that team in play? Kabam has been introducing more and more cards, each more powerful than the last, at an insane pace. Boss cards become useless in a month or two. I'm not bit*&ing about cards being overpowered...I'm saying that if you take a step back, it seems like the company is doing what any corporation would, cash out at the end for all they can to build profits on a venture that's ending.
So many realms are near empty...were all down to one or two active guilds, with no new players joining...and no hope of a server merger. Kabam has simply been doing their best to entice those loyal few remaining on each server to keep spending. And they are good at that. These new cards are crazy powerful....and that feeling that "I have to get this one PE" starts to kick in, or else I'll be way behind. The thing is, I dont know that the new cards are actually that great if you stop and think about it, since the signs all point to this being the last days of the game.
Besides the pacing of the cards (so many new ones that have overpowered heroic abilities) which alone is a clue this is a cash out at the end, we've just seen the release of Merlin, Queen Guinevere and King Arthur. Folks, it there was ever a sign that the final curtain is coming down....that is it, IMHO. And also, all released at the same time, not something to work for over the next year..but a final volley to get the players spending, seems like a bit of desperation.
The crazy thing is that one the way out, Kabam convinced us that Norse gods like Thor also made sense in a game about camelot...and put them in for us to buy. All the while, they have refused to fix old bugs (think wars gentlemen), and new bugs, like new card skills that don't work as advertised. If they were investing in this game...I think at least something would have been fixed. I would have loved to have seen it be that way...instead of it looking like a close out.
I am not writing this to gripe about how crappy it is that Kabam mismanaged the game and the player base got out of town like a zombie outbreak just happened, people have beat that drum before...we all know the tune. I just really hate that a game with so much potential seems to be closing out. I enjoyed playing HoC, enjoyed the people in the guild-hated to seem them drop off one by one, and have to be replaced from other guilds that have died off as well.
I only check in for city events these days. Like so many ppl, I have been hoping that things will improve...but Im sad to say I dont think they will.
